As an astronomer I'm always checking out equpment so that when people come to our observatory we know about their telescope or if they ask about binoculars. This one your asking is one of the best on the market. The size is perfect for deep sky viewing, We have this one at our observatory and you made the right decision. I wouldn't reccomend anything different . Go for it . also pick up this book .. http://www.amazon.com/Touring-Universe-through-Binoculars-Astronomers/dp/0471513377/sr=1-2/qid=1166242809/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/104-0796609-2479965?ie=UTF8&s=books WE have it and recomend it to all binocular stargazers. Here are some binocular astronomy sites as well . http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=binocular+astronomy+&btnG=Google+Search As far as seeing things during the day .. dawn and dusk and during the night are best times during the day. The sun's too bright to see planets etc during the day . go here to see what's up .. www.skytonight.com Enjoy the binoculars ! need any help finding objects , my email is on my profile
Any comments on these astronomical binoculars?
They are 20x80 and come with a tripod for $150. Good, bad, or ugly?

I've owned binoculars like these, and I found I never use them. They're too big and bulky and hard to use. I use my 10x50 binoculars all the time. If you want an 80mm aperture, you will do much better buying an 80mm telescope on a proper astronomical mount. Even then, I'd recommend a larger telescope, particularly if you're a beginner.
I wanna buy steiner 25x80 or celestron or zhumell 25x100 binocular which one is better?have real magnificati?
on u think?
Check the website for Orion telescopes, they have one of the largest offerings of Binoculars for Astronomy. As has already been pointed out, Binoculars like the one's you mention need to be mounted. Two reasons: 1. They are heavy. 2. Most people have trouble keeping 10X binoculars steady enough to see anything, at 25X you'll be shaking all over the sky. Don't forget, when the optics magnify an object 25 times, they also magnify any errors, such as your hands shaking, 25 times. But all is not lost. There are a number of binocular mount designs on the web for free. If you are handy with tools, you can make one yourself. Otherwise you have to purchase a commercial mount, which can cost as much as the binoculars. Good Luck! Adolph
